"Nobody"
A poem about nobody ~ any resemblance to anybody,
should be immediately reported to somebody and
from thence announced to everybody, most especially
to anyone and everyone who cares about nobody.

Nobody called me on the phone
Nobody sent a letter
Nobody noticed me lying prone
Nobody wished me better
Nobody walked my little dog
Nobody cooked my dinner
Nobody posted upon my blog
Nobody said, "You're a winner!"
Nobody knocked upon my door
Nobody cleaned the house
Nobody washed the kitchen floor
Nobody ironed my blouse
Nobody raked the leaves that fall
Nobody swept the walk
Nobody gave the dog a ball
Nobody stopped to talk
Nobody rang the front door bell
Nobody wore me out
Nobody stopped to wish me well
Nobody had to shout
Has everyone seen nobody?
Does anybody know where he is?
Tell everyone and anybody
That nobody was missed!

Gee, Deb. What prompted this?
I do like it very much, but I hope you do have somebody!
Bobbie ~ "Don't cry for me, Argentina." It was prompted by my odd, quirky sense of humor... a sort of corny, play on words.
It all started with a phone call to my mom, this morning. She said, "The mailman didn't come again, today." ("Phone didn't ring again," etc.) It's an old family joke, so I took the concept and went just a little over the top... I'm easily amused... and Mom'll get a chuckle tonight, when I read it to her.
Consider this my verbal sorbet, a cleansing of my palate after penning all those ponderous haikus, earlier. Just though I'd share!
LOL...that is hilarious. It is fun to be silly sometimes! Your poem reminds me of the Jimmy Buffet line "If the phone doesn't ring you know that its me..."
Great job!
Kim ~ You know, I'd forgotten that song... it's just something we always said, within the family. My mom did have a good chuckle tonight, when I read it.
A little hilarity never goes amiss, especially on a foggy, miserable day like this.
Loved it. You know given the pace of life sometimes I wish there were days like that. Where nobody calls, e-mails, calls meetings, etc.
Ralph
You're right, Ralph. Anyway, I enjoyed myself immensely - just a bit of silliness on a gloomy day.
Deb,
Wow! I can see I'm way behind on my reading!!! This was cute, but it did have me wondering for awhile. I was ready to compose a note so you couldn't say "nobody had written!"
:-)
He-he, Shady! Although "Nobody sent a letter" pretty much covered it... or, "Nobody posted upon my blog." Gotta have a little word play, every so often ~ "all work and no play..."
